Steam turbine island refers to a set of steam turbine, generator and their auxiliary systems. It is the core component of a power plant as steam turbine island is the part where electricity is generated through the rotating motion of turbine blade.

A complete set of steam turbine island comprises of following equipments and sub-systems:
1.Turbine-generator set -
--power is generated through the action of generator driven by the turbine connected to it.
2.Water-condensation system
--steam is condensed to water to be circulated to boiler and heated again.
3.Vacuum system
A.sub-system of main steam (where steam circulates to propel the blades of turbine)
B.water cycle system (where water circulates from condenser to be heated again)
C.DCS system (monitors the operation of turbine and adjusts output rate)
D. deaerating &water supplying system (where oxygen is removed to ensure good operation environment and water is supplied)
4. Cooling Air system (for air-cooled unit only)
5. Generator system ( electricity is generated in this system)
